Abridged, revised edition in one volume. 4to. 324pp, 269 plates, pictorial endpapers, 8 itinerary maps. Cloth with dustwrapper. The wrapper is a little chipped at the corners and along the edges, some offsetting on the endpapers, including faint stains from tape used on a previous covering; now in a new (untaped) protective sleeve. There is some light foxing on the head and fore-edges, and the verso of the front free endpaper bears a presentation plate from the Tasmanian division of the Red Cross, not stuck to the page but mounted with four corner-mounts (as for small photos). Otherwise a very good clean copy. ***Includes all buildings from the 1964 two-volume edition, plus another five, with abridgement reducing the more specialised material on architecture and quotations from contemporary documents - specifically the text of chapters 2, 3 and 12, although 'most of the illustrations for these chapters have been retained elsewhere in the book'.
